Badge Reciprocity - Acceptance of Participating Conference Black/Uber “Special” Badges

Texas Cyber Summit will honor “Badge Exchange” from certain conference Black/Uber/Special badges that were “officially” awarded by those conferences and only to the original participant. * More details to come.

Program Brief

Texas Cyber Summit reserves the right to thoroughly inspect, validate and ensure the badge is legitimate, as well Texas Cyber Summit reserves the right to refuse the badge if “They: deem it to suspicious, weird, or they are unable to validate properly. In all liklelyhood this may become a “judgement call” of the inspector of the badge and the program, if a badge is accepted for entrance you agree to all of the terms set-forth on the Code of Conduct and furthermore you agree to allow TCS the ability to place a visible marking on the badge to ensure single-use, authenticity and proper owner identification. These terms and others will be developed over time. Expect there will be updates done to this program in the upcoming weeks.

Badges that maybe accepted:

  1. DerbyCon - All Black Badges from 2011 - 2019

  2. DEF CON - All Black Badges from 2019

  3. KernelCon - Ten Badges from any years.

  4. GrrCON - Ten Badges from last two years

  5. ThotCon - Ten Badges from any years.

  6. CypherCon - Ten Badges from any years

  7. Wild West Hackin’ Fest - Ten Badges from last two years

Terms and Conditions of badge Reciprocity:

  1. Original Badge Holder Only

  2. Valid form of I.D. Government issued ID Only

  3. Badge must be Validated by awarding Conference to be accepted, will require up-front notice of intent to use the badge for free entrance to allow us time to make the necessary contact.

  4. Original Badge must be presented, no Copies, photos, tokens, promises, etc. The original badge must be presented in person, copies and or counterfeit badges earn you a one way ticket out.

  5. The badge will be Marked by TCS to ensure non-reuse for that specific year. This is a requirement for acceptance, the mark will be made using either visible or invisible methods to ensure single use.

  6. Texas Cyber Summit may issue the original badge holder a special badge to be used in future years to avoid multiple markings, and wear and tear on older badges (* Judgement Call)

  7. When in doubt, a judgement call will be made to error on the side of non acceptance, as this program matures you can expect better inspections and faster approval.

  8. TCS will attempt to make every effort to provide reciprocity for participating badge conferences, in return TCS expects those conferences to honor our “Special” badges.

  9. Limited number of badges will be accepted each year from operational conferences and those that TCS deem to be in compliance and providing mutual resiprocity.

  10. Right to refuse service; Notice TCS reserves the right to deny access to anyone for any reason what so ever.

  11. Badges that are accepted can only be use once in a calendar year, are required to be validated, and must allow TCS to mark the item appropriately to ensure single use.
